Let’s face it. Planning a party is a lot of work. This quick and easy time line will ensure you cover all your bases and create a successful and memorable party for your little (or big) one!
1 month before the big day:
Choose a date & time
Select your theme & color scheme
Book the venue (if not in your home)
Research your entertainment options and create a rough schedule of events for the party day
3 weeks before the big day:
Book entertainment (ie. Face painter, bouncy house, character appearance)
Buy all party supplies, including personalized décor, all decorations, tableware, invites & thank you notes, favors, etc.
Prepare all invitations
2 weeks before the big day:
Send out invitations
Plan activities and games and make a strict timeline for party day
Plan the menu
Continue checking off your to-do list and do as much as possible as early as possible
1 week before the big day:
Order/buy all (frozen) food and drinks
Order the cake
Prepare/assemble all party favors
Clean house/prepare party space
Finalize all decorations
1 day before the big day:
Buy perishable food/pick up cake (don’t forget the candles!)
Decorate as much as possible if the party is in your home
Assemble tables for the cake, favors, food and presents
Have payment for entertainment prepared
Have all music, arts & craft supplies, stories, videos, and contest awards ready
The day of the party:
Have your camera ready to snap all those amazing memories
Finish all decorating/party preparations
Set out food & drinks
Wait for the entertainment to arrive
Be a good party hostess: greet guests promptly, keep the kids entertained, & keep everyone talking, eating, and having fun
Don’t be afraid to ask for help-ask your hubby and your sister to divide and conquer these tasks so everyone can enjoy the party
